Description
We applied for this project in order to respond to the growing environmental and social challenges associated with advancing urbanisation and the disappearance of natural green areas. Our main motivation was to promote sustainable urban development through the implementation of green roof technology, while combating unemployment among young professionals in the fields of civil engineering, landscape architecture and urban planning. The project aimed to transform urban environmental problems – such as biodiversity loss, reduction of green spaces and low energy efficiency of buildings – into opportunities for innovation and sustainable development. By creating new 'green jobs' and providing specialist training in green building technologies, the initiative aimed to equip graduates with practical skills in line with the European Green Deal and the transition to a low-carbon economy. The project thus combined environmental regeneration with social development, supporting both the creation of greener cities and the improvement of young graduates' career prospects.

What makes this project/initiative unique?:
It addresses to a variety of European priorities (e.g. the aforementioned European Skills Agenda, the European Green Deal or the Digital Agenda), It identifies the training needs for developing adequate programs in respect of trasversal skills, promotion and attractiveness of construction industry, energy efficiency, digitalization, green and sustainable construction, It updates accumulation/synthesis of good practices used in the construction field in the participating countries in order to be disseminated to the interested parties

Aim
Our goal was to achieve comprehensive results focused on urban revitalisation, sustainable environmental development and the professional development of young graduates. As part of the project, we developed an innovative, multidisciplinary curriculum designed to educate a new type of specialist capable of combining engineering, agronomic and social knowledge in the design and implementation of sustainable roofing solutions. The project aimed not only to promote the exchange of knowledge and innovative teaching methods, but also to provide practical, work-based forms of education that increase young people's chances of finding employment in a competitive labour market. By promoting the idea of lifelong learning and creating an e-learning platform with training modules and job placement tools, we sought to strengthen cooperation between education and industry. The end result was the preparation of a new generation of specialists equipped with the technical and environmental skills necessary to protect the environment, support urban biodiversity and improve energy efficiency, thereby building a more sustainable and inclusive urban future.
Target Groups:
The target group is:
- Students and young graduates in the field of construction.
- Professors and instructors who teach construction and related subjects.
The indirect target group is:
- Landscape architects, urban planners, and similar professional profiles.
- Companies, SMEs, NGOs, public authorities, and other organizations involved in urban regeneration and, in particular, green roofs.
- Urban gardeners, professionals, and amateurs will benefit from new economic or voluntary opportunities.
- Socially excluded people and/or people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
