Description

The Trenoverg project addresses the current challenges of climate transition in the construction sector by offering training courses that incorporate new techniques and sustainable materials, such as bio-based insulation and prefabricated elements from the circular economy. It is subsidized by the ESF fund.

What makes this project/initiative unique?:
It addresses to a variety of European priorities (e.g. the aforementioned European Skills Agenda, the European Green Deal or the Digital Agenda), It identifies the training needs for developing adequate programs in respect of trasversal skills, promotion and attractiveness of construction industry, energy efficiency, digitalization, green and sustainable construction, It integrates the necessary construction green skills in VET
Partners
IFSB oversaw the development of this project. Its teams comprise of trainers and managers.
Aim
Given the challenges and climate change facing the construction sector, it is essential to train manual workers in new techniques and materials.
The current construction market is evolving, with a very significant energy renovation market. The latter is essential to meeting the national plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Target Groups:
The Trenoverg project consists of training manual workers in the construction sector in the use of new techniques and materials on construction sites, with a particular focus on energy-efficient building renovation.
The target was to train 144 workers and it has been achieved. 6 trainings have been developed:
1. Air tightness in renovation: aims to raise participants' awareness of the challenges of air tightness in renovation. Train participants in air tightness techniques adapted to different renovation projects.
2. Roof insulation in renovation: provide the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary to carry out roof insulation in renovation, using several types of insulation
3. Slab insulation in renovation: to raise participants' awareness of the challenges of slab insulation in renovation. Train participants in techniques suitable for different types of slabs and the materials used. Develop the skills to carry out high-quality work in compliance with current standards and regulations
4. Exterior joinery in renovation: teach the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to replace exterior joinery during renovation. Train participants in techniques suitable for different types of joinery and the materials used
5. Interior insulation in renovation: teach the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to carry out interior insulation work in renovation. Train participants in techniques suited to different substrates and insulation materials
6. Circular economy: dismantling and reassembling prefabricated elements: (mastering selective dismantling techniques: identifying reusable materials, dismantling them safely, and preparing them for reuse)
Outcomes

Results of the project/initiative:
1. Circular economy: encouraging the reuse and recycling of construction materials, as well as the use of environmentally friendly bio-based materials.
2. Improving the energy consumption of buildings: by making buildings more sustainable and energy efficient, which helps reduce CO2 emissions while providing better thermal comfort, improved indoor air quality, and a healthier environment.
3. Creating green jobs: the climate transition in the construction sector can stimulate innovation and job creation in the fields of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable materials.
4. Stakeholder consultation: the project involves stakeholders, including construction companies, workers in the sector, and civil society organizations, in decision-making and monitoring implementation.
5. Transparency and accountability: the project is transparent in its objectives, methods, and results, and reports on its impacts on the construction sector community.
6. Promotion of bio-based materials: the project promotes the use of bio-based building materials, such as wood, hemp, or straw, which have a low carbon footprint and contribute to CO2 storage.
7. Energy renovation of existing buildings: the project supports the energy renovation of existing buildings, improving their energy consumption and comfort while reducing CO2 emissions generated by heating and cooling systems.
