Description

Employment promotion project which aims to attract new professionals to the construction sector through guidance, awareness-raising and networking between companies, public employment services, education providers and social organisations. The project combines local pilot actions and state-level activities across several Autonomous Communities (Comunidades Autónomas), targeting unemployed people, young students, women, guidance professionals and construction companies, while promoting quality employment, early vocational guidance and improved social perception of the sector.

Aim
The aim is to contribute to a more inclusive, skilled and sustainable construction labour market by addressing barriers to entry and improving school to VET and from VET to employment. The initiative seeks to strengthen vocational guidance, enhance early career orientation and improve coordination between labour market and education actors in order to better match people’s skills with sectoral needs. The project has three lines of action:
• Attracting unemployed people to Employment Training through guidance.
• Dissemination of the opportunities offered by the sector.
• Networking to strengthen complementary intervention between: companies, public employment services, the educational and training community, and socio-labour integration entities.
Target Groups:
The target groups of the initiative include:
• Individuals seeking employment or training guidance, especially those interested in entering the construction sector and exploring career options via vocational orientation tools and personalised support.
• Young people and students, including those in primary and secondary education, who are encouraged to discover construction careers through resources like vocational tests, occupational profiles and exploration activities.
• Public employment and career guidance professionals, who can access specialised resources, tools and training to better support transitions into employment.
• Organisations and entities involved in employment support and education, which are provided with sector-specific orientation materials and methodologies to assist jobseekers and learners.
• Construction companies and employers, targeted through resources for workforce attraction, talent identification and engagement in the sector’s employment ecosystem.

Results of the project/initiative:
Directed at Entities involved in employment support and education:
• Transversal Skills Training – tools designed to develop key soft skills such as self-awareness, communication, self-esteem and understanding of gender roles in employment contexts.
• Construction Sector Job Portal – a specialised employment portal with a large number of active vacancies in the construction sector.
• Sector-specific Training for Career Guidance Professionals – technical training resources aimed at career advisers, focused on labour market knowledge and guidance tools specific to construction.
• “Constrúyete”: Managing Emotions During the Job Search – emotional support materials for jobseekers and professionals supporting labour market insertion.
• Online Training – free short online courses, including Vocational Guidance in the Construction Sector (22 hours) and Understanding the Construction Sector (8 hours), aimed at people exploring or entering the sector.
• Professional Advantages of the Construction Sector – awareness-raising materials (argumentaries/infographics) highlighting the professional benefits of working in construction.
• Generación Cambio Podcast – podcast episodes exploring career paths, sector insights and employment opportunities in construction.
• Sector-specific CV Template – a downloadable CV model tailored to construction occupations, with practical guidance for job applicants.
• Construction Observatory – a dedicated observatory providing up-to-date statistical data and analysis on the construction sector.
• Construction Terminology Dictionary – a multilingual glossary explaining technical terms used in the construction sector.
• Accreditation of Professional Competences – an infographic explaining procedures for the official recognition of professional skills to improve employability.

• Guide to Free Services for Companies – a downloadable guide outlining the free support services available to companies through the Fundación Laboral de la Construcción.
• Construction Sector Job Portal – access to a specialised employment portal managed by the project with hundreds of monthly vacancies.
• Hosting Students for Work Placements – a resource explaining how companies can host trainees in just four steps.
• “Help Us Identify Your Needs” Questionnaire – a tool for companies to share current needs so that the project can adapt orientation and training resources accordingly.
Directed at Public employment and career guidance professionals and ultimately to individuals seeking employment or training guidance:
• Workshops in primary education settings – dynamic, participatory workshops that introduce pupils to the construction sector, sustainability and career options through games and discussions with industry professionals.
• Open-day events at training centres – practical guided visits where young people (typically ages 15–30) explore different construction trades and interact with professionals.
• “Worksite Card Game” educational resource – a card-based interactive learning game for discovering how real construction sites operate, the roles involved, teamwork and problem-solving.
• Sustainable City infographic – an educational visual resource about sustainable environments and construction’s role in them.
• Vocational pathway infographic for vocational education and training – visual guide explaining vocational training routes and opportunities.
• Podcast on discovering professional vocation – audio content focused on the importance of early vocational guidance and building motivating career paths.
