Description

The Women Can Build LatAm project extends the successful European initiative to Chile and Argentina under Erasmus+ “Capacity Building in VET.” Its goal is to transfer knowledge and best practices on training and employability for women in construction, promoting European tools and protocols. By strengthening VET systems and institutional responsiveness, the project supports sustainable socio-economic development and gender equality. This initiative is crucial for Latin American societies, fostering inclusion and empowering women in a traditionally male-dominated sector.

Aim

• Strengthening the qualification of teachers in the construction sector with a gender perspective, creating a multiplier effect to raise awareness in the sector. In Latin America, this is key to breaking stereotypes and fostering inclusive education in Chile and Argentina.
• Promoting training and knowledge transfer between training entities on both continents to improve the employability of women in construction, based on the success of the Women Can Build project. This exchange will allow Latin American institutions to adopt European best practices and adapt them to local realities.
• Strengthening the link between training providers and the labour market to identify employment opportunities and jointly develop responsive VET interventions. In Chile and Argentina, this connection is essential to address skills gaps and create pathways for women in a growing sector.
• Promoting the insertion of women in the construction sector while supporting the industry's green and digital transition. In Latin America, this contributes to sustainable development and gender equality, empowering women to participate in strategic sectors that drive economic growth

Target Groups:
• SME’s companies and business associations, whose aim is the representation of the sector in different fields and negotiations
• Construction VET providers, centres of national reference regarding sectoral training on construction, with the presence of training centres at the national and territorial level
• Working and unemployed women organisations, private organisations and public entities working for the training and labour inclusion of women in the construction industry

Outcomes

Results of the project/initiative:
• Report on the situation of the sector -Status Quo- in the Latin American countries involved in the project.
• Action Plan for the qualification and insertion of women in the construction sector, as a result of the working groups (women, trainers and construction companies) and workshops.
• Virtual collection of good practices to promote the incorporation and equity of women in the construction sector.
• Purple Book of Women in Construction.
• Creation of a network of alliances for the promotion of women in the construction sector.
• Activities for the promotion and visibility of women in the sector.
