ConstructyVET, pragmatisation of the identification process of construction companies’ skills needs for worksite middle managers

Overview

Country:
France

Level of Outreach:
National

Field of Interest(s):
Other
Identification of construction companies´ skills needs

Supported By:
EU

Description

ConstructyVET finds its origins in surveys conducted in the different partner countries of the project, which showed a mismatch between construction companies’ expectations and the nature of trainings for middle management on site.
It focused on territorial needs; the results and proposed solutions were always connected to local contexts.
The objective was not to create new training devices, but to design training modules that can be integrated to existing trainings or lead to professional workshops.

Project/Initiative Data

Start Date:
20150901

End Date:
20180901

Total Budget:
Approximately 700 000 €, including the contribution of the European Union of 450 000€

Phases:
Phase 1: Report on the adequacy between skills needed by building companies concerning team leaders and available training offer.
Phase 2: Renewed or new contents for initial and continuing VET addressing team leaders and worksite supervisors.
Phase 3: Guidelines for pedagogical methods and tools for (re) designed VET paths addressing both centres and company tutors and also including instructions and recommendations for accompaniment of the learning process.
Phase 4: Model for evaluation and recognition of learning outcomes, combining certification with reference to NQFS and EQF, degree of satisfaction of final beneficiaries (individuals and companies) and learning process itself.

Partners

Partners: BZB (Germany), CCCA-BTP (France), Cenfic (Portugal), IFAPME (Belgium), FORMEDIL (Italy), FLC (Spain), FLC Asturias (Spain), Warrigton Collegiate (UK) and IBE (Poland).

Aim

Devising a transnational action plan for the development of middle management skills on building sites.

Outcomes

Results of the project/initiative:
Effective modularisation of training courses.

Impacts/Outcomes 2:
Design of a more pragmatic training, considering the new required skills (health, safety, energy efficiency).

Impacts/Outcomes 3:
Effective integration of work-based learning rules and principles.

Policy/Initiative

Skills Gaps:
Strengthening of worksite middle managers’ skills considering health, safety and energy efficiency.
Strengthening of their communication skills.

Skills Shortages:
A skilled worksite middle manager is a rare resource, therefore this project helps overcoming the shortages of worksite middle managers.

Recommendations

Training:
The modularisation of training courses, as well as the contextualisation of construction workers’ skills, both become necessary to match construction companies’ skills needs.

Career Moves:
Training modular programs ease intern promotion.

Transfer in Europe:
The transfer of knowledge becomes more flexible through the modularisation, which increases the interest for e-learning devices and platforms.

Other:
The results of these training modules are publicly disseminated, so that interested VET providers, construction companies and qualified workers can see their impacts and interests.
