Description
The National Agency for Qualification and Professional Education (ANQEP) aims, in accordance with sectoral and national policies, is making the profession civil construction painter reference more attractive by changing the framework.
In the framework, activities considered important in the development of the profession were introduced, namely, references to restoration, sustainable construction, vertical work in access by ropes and issues of safety and health at work.
A suite of specific training units are introduced which include: driving hoisting machines, road painting works, personal development techniques, business creation and looking for the first job.

The aim is to make the painter profession more attractive.

Promote the attractiveness of the painter sector and open opportunities to all.

Enable and increase the uptake of the trainings by women.

Introduce specific training and increase the uptake of the training for the younger target group.

Skills Gaps:
A study was carried out to detect the gaps and needs in learning and changes were made to the curriculum for - driving hoisting machines, road painting works, personal development techniques, business creation and looking for the first job.
Mis-Matching of Skills:
In the previous framework, activities were detected that are no longer applicable due to the development of the construction industry, even though there is a lot of activity in Portugal in the area of restoration.
Skills Shortages:
Update the painter trainings to encourage the young to enter the profession in a highly active field.

Training:
Update and introduce trainings for driving hoisting machines, road painting works, personal development techniques, business creation and developing skills to aid first time employment.
Career Moves:
The promotion of the profession is very important and the attractiveness of it, too. It is important to ensure that the painter profession retains a level of competence and skill and the market can be assured of its quality.
Mobility:
Very important in the development of a painter's professional life.
Entrepreneurship Opportunities:
In the south of Portugal women are in charge of painting the houses. This is a great opportunity for women to become professionals in this field and expand their opportunities to promote their skills and set up business.
Transfer in Europe:
It is important to keep alive traditional (ancestral) techniques which will become a thing of the past and abandoned, it is important to transfer this knowledge to others.
